- Visitors open your about page to answer one question: can I trust these people?

About Us Page Design: Getting the Second Most Visited Page Right
Check your analytics and you'll usually find the about page sitting just behind the homepage in visits. That traffic isn't idle curiosity. People open it at the exact moment they're deciding whether to trust you with money, which makes about us page design a sales problem wearing a biography costume. And yet the standard Nepali about page is three paragraphs of "we are a leading company committed to quality and customer satisfaction", words that could describe a bank, a bakery or a brick factory. Interchangeable words build no trust at all.
Answer the visitor's question, not yours
The visitor's question is simple: who are these people, and will they treat me well? So the page should deliver, in roughly this order: who you are in one plain sentence, why the business exists (the origin story), proof you're competent, the faces behind the work, and a next step. Notice what's missing: mission statements, vision statements, "core values" listed as five abstract nouns. If a value doesn't come with a story or a policy attached ("we answer every enquiry within one business day"), it's decoration.
Tell the origin story like a human
Every business has a founding moment, and it's almost always more interesting than the corporate summary of it. "I started repairing laptops from a rented room in Putalisadak in 2016 because my campus friends kept bringing me theirs" beats "established in 2016, we provide IT solutions". Specifics do the persuading: the year, the place, the first customer, the hard patch. Keep it under 200 words. You're not writing a memoir; you're proving there are real people with a real history behind the logo, which in Nepal's seen-it-all market is half the sale.
Faces, names and the photos that matter
The about page is where stock photography goes to kill credibility. Use real photos or use none. A team section with actual names, roles and faces, even if the team is two people and a part-time cousin, consistently outperforms an anonymous corporate wall. Add your workshop, office or shop, and a candid working shot; polish is optional, honesty isn't. For solo founders, one good portrait with a short first-person note works beautifully. People hire people. Show them the people.

See Website Design PackagesAdd proof, then close the loop
Because the about page is a trust checkpoint, salt it with evidence: years in business, number of projects or customers, client logos, a short testimonial, registration details, association memberships. Then, and most about pages forget this completely, end with a call to action. The reader has just decided you seem legitimate; hand them the next step immediately: "See our work", "Get a quote", a phone and WhatsApp button. An about page without a CTA is a job interview where you convince them and then walk out without leaving a number.
Keep it current, keep it honest
Two maintenance rules. First, update the page yearly: team changes, new milestones, this year's numbers. A page that still says "our team of 3" when you're 12 people undersells you; the reverse destroys trust. Second, resist inflation. Don't claim "50 experts" when you're 5, and don't pad the page with borrowed awards. Your real story, told plainly with real faces, beats an inflated one every time, because inflated pages read exactly like what they are.
When WebsNP builds a website, we interview you for the about page rather than asking you to "send content", because owners underrate their own story. It's included in every fixed-price package, along with the design, photos guidance, SEO and a year of hosting. Quote within 24 hours, most sites delivered in 2 to 7 days, unlimited revisions on WordPress packages until the page sounds like you.
