How to Use ChatGPT for Work in Nepal: Practical Prompts
The best way to use ChatGPT at work is to give it a clear role, the facts it needs and the format you want, then read and correct the result before you use it. The routines below suit common Nepali jobs. Features depend on your plan and on OpenAI, which changes them often.
A simple prompt formula
- Role. Who should it act as, such as a shop copywriter or a school teacher?
- Task. What exactly do you want written, summarised or fixed?
- Facts. Provide names, numbers, dates and tone. Do not make it guess.
- Format. Table, list, short paragraph or email.
- Language. Nepali, English or both, formal or friendly.
For shop owners and marketers
Ask for three versions of a product description in simple Nepali, each under fifty words, using the facts you supply. Ask for customer reply templates for common questions such as delivery time and returns. Always check prices, sizes and offers by hand, because the tool can invent details. For images and posters, pair it with a design tool such as Canva Pro.
For teachers and trainers
- Request a lesson outline for a given topic and class level, then adjust it to your syllabus.
- Ask for practice questions at different difficulty levels and verify the answers yourself.
- Ask for a simpler explanation of a hard idea, with an example from daily life in Nepal.
Follow your institution rules about AI use. Do not paste students personal details or unpublished exam papers.
For accountants and office staff
Use it to draft polite reminder emails, summarise a long circular you paste in, or suggest Excel formulas and explain them. Do not rely on it for tax rates, filing rules or legal interpretation. Those are set by the Inland Revenue Department and other authorities and change, so confirm from the official source. Software can hold records, but it does not replace professional advice.
For developers and freelancers
Ask it to explain unfamiliar code, suggest test cases, outline a project plan or draft a proposal from your notes. Review all generated code before use, run tests and never paste secrets such as passwords or API keys into the chat.
A checking routine for every output
- Read it fully, not just the first lines.
- Check every number, date, name and claim against a source.
- Have a fluent speaker read any Nepali text meant for the public.
- Remove anything that sounds invented, such as quotes or statistics you did not provide.
- Keep the final version in your own file, not only in the chat history.
Set office rules before the team starts
Agree a short list of what staff may and may not paste: no customer phone numbers, citizenship details, bank information, contracts or passwords. Decide who pays for accounts and who owns them, and never share one personal login among staff. Check the vendor privacy settings, including whether chat history is used to improve models, and choose what suits your business.
Getting a subscription
If your card is declined, WebsNP helps buyers arrange a ChatGPT Plus subscription without an international card. We are not an official OpenAI partner and we never offer shared logins. Read more on the ChatGPT Plus Nepal page.
Three prompts you can adapt today
- Customer reply. Act as a polite shop assistant in Kathmandu. A customer asks whether a product can be returned after three days. Our policy is: [your real policy]. Write a short reply in simple Nepali.
- Meeting summary. Here are my rough notes from today meeting. Turn them into a list of decisions, owners and deadlines. Do not add anything I did not write.
- Spreadsheet help. I have a sheet with columns date, customer, amount and status. Suggest a formula to total pending amounts for each customer and explain it step by step.
Notice that each prompt gives real facts and a limit, such as do not add anything I did not write. That single line prevents many invented details.
Build a personal prompt library
Save the prompts that worked in a document, with a note of what you changed. Over a month you will have a small library for your own job, which saves more time than any new feature. Review it every few months, since tools and models change and an old prompt may no longer be the best.
When not to use it
Do not use AI for anything where a wrong answer could harm someone or break a rule and you cannot check it, such as medical advice, legal conclusions or safety instructions. Do not use it to produce fake reviews, invented customer quotes or misleading adverts. Do not let it write messages that must sound personal, like a condolence note. The tool is excellent at structure and first drafts, and weak at judgement and sincerity, so keep those for yourself.
Your next step
Pick one task you repeat every week and write a reusable prompt for it. Test it for a week. If your team uses AI heavily, consider a purpose-built tool, such as a helpdesk system for customer questions.
