What "storage full" actually stops
Being over quota does not delete anything on day one, but it does switch off the things you use every day. Google's own list of consequences is worth reading before you decide how urgent this is.
- You cannot upload new files to Google Drive.
- Google Photos stops backing up. The photos already on your phone are fine, but new ones are not being saved anywhere else.
- Sending and receiving email can be affected. This is the one that hurts a business account, because a supplier's mail can bounce without you noticing.
- Files stay where they are, but you cannot edit them.
- Google only removes content after an account has been over quota for two years, and it gives at least three months' notice first. So there is time, but it is not unlimited time.
The 15 GB is one pool, not three
This is the part that confuses people. A free Google account does not get 15 GB for Gmail plus 15 GB for Drive plus 15 GB for Photos. It gets 15 GB in total, shared between them. A decade of email attachments, a phone that has been backing up full-resolution photos and a Drive full of design files are all drawing on the same 15 GB.
That is why deleting a few emails rarely fixes anything. Whatever is really eating the space is usually one of three things: years of large attachments in Gmail, original-quality photos and videos in Photos, or big files in Drive that you forgot about, including everything sitting in Trash.
Free things to try before you pay for anything
Work through these first. For a personal account that has never been cleaned, this alone often buys another year.
- Empty the three bins. Deleted items in Drive, Gmail and Photos still count against your quota until the bin is emptied. Do all three, not just Drive.
- Search Gmail for the heavy mail. Sort by large attachments and by old date ranges. The scanned documents, the wedding photos someone mailed you in 2019 and old newsletters with attachments add up faster than the message text ever does.
- Clear Spam and Promotions. These count too, and they are the easiest bulk delete you will ever do.
- Check what Photos is storing. Original-quality video is the single biggest consumer on most personal accounts. Videos of a few minutes each will outweigh thousands of stills.
- Find the largest Drive files. Sort Drive by file size and look at the top of the list. Old video exports, ISO files and duplicate zip archives are common.
- Download and archive what you do not need online. Move the material you keep for records but never open onto an external drive, then delete the cloud copy and empty the bin.
Do this cleanup even if you plan to buy storage. Paying for 5 TB and then filling the first terabyte with duplicated exports and 2018 spam is a poor trade.
When cleaning is not the answer
Some accounts cannot be cleaned down. A photographer in Pokhara shooting weddings, a video editor archiving 4K project files, a consultancy that has kept every client email for eight years: for them 15 GB was never going to be enough, and the time spent triaging files each month costs more than storage does.
At that point the options are Google's paid plans. Here is how they compare, in the terms that actually matter.

Google bills all of these in US dollars and needs a card that works for international online payments. That is the practical blocker in Nepal, not availability. 5 TB is also one shared pool
Say this out loud once, because sellers get it wrong: Google AI Pro includes 5 TB shared across Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos. It is not 5 TB each and it is never 15 TB in total. It is the same single pool you already have, made much larger. Anyone advertising 5 TB per service has misread Google's page.
What 5 TB holds, roughly
Real file sizes vary a lot, so treat this as arithmetic for a sense of scale rather than a promise. Working with 5 TB as about 5,000 GB:
- Photos: at roughly 3 to 5 MB per phone photo, that is on the order of a million images. Nobody runs out of 5 TB with stills alone.
- 1080p video: at roughly 100 MB per minute, about 50,000 minutes, which is in the region of 800 hours. Enough for years of a small channel's archive.
- 4K video: several times heavier per minute, so plan on a fraction of that. A working videographer can fill 5 TB, which is exactly why Google sells 20 TB and 30 TB tiers above it.
- Documents and email: effectively irrelevant at this scale. A lifetime of PDFs, spreadsheets and mail is a rounding error next to video.
If you generate video with AI tools and store the project files, remember exports pile up faster than you expect. Delete the drafts you rejected.
The upgrade goes on the Gmail address you already use. You give us the address, never the password, and the plan then shows in your own Google account settings.
Google's policy is that storage plan purchases are non-refundable in most countries, and third-party subscriptions bought through WebsNP are non-refundable under our terms as well. Clear what you can first, work out how much you really need, then buy once.
Sharing the storage with family
The person who manages the plan can share storage, and some AI benefits, with up to five other people. Each person keeps their own account and their own private files, drawing on the shared pool. Google excludes several perks from sharing, including YouTube Premium Lite, the Developer Program premium benefits, Google Store credit and Colab.
How much of this applies depends on how the plan is attached to the account, so ask us before you buy on the assumption that five relatives will be covered. We would rather answer that question first than have you find out afterwards.
What happens if the plan ends
Storage drops back to 15 GB. If you are over that, you are back to the list at the top of this page: no Drive uploads, no Photos backup, email affected, files readable but not editable. Nothing is deleted immediately. Google only removes content after two years over quota and gives at least three months' notice.
The practical version: before a plan lapses, get your large files onto a local drive. WebsNP sends a reminder before a term ends and there is no card on file, so nothing renews automatically without you deciding to renew.
If the storage is for a team, this is the wrong product
Google AI Pro is a personal subscription tied to one Google account. If several staff need shared drives, an admin who can add and remove people, and files that stay with the company when an employee leaves, that is Google Workspace, where storage is allocated per user and managed centrally. A five-person consultancy in Putalisadak should be looking at Google Drive for business, not five personal plans.
The two are not mutually exclusive. Plenty of people run a Workspace account for company email and a personal Google AI Pro plan for the AI tools and the photo archive. The full AI Pro feature list sets out what else comes with the storage.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 5 TB shared or is it 5 TB for each service?
Shared. Google AI Pro includes 5 TB across Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos combined, in exactly the same way the free 15 GB is shared. Any listing offering 5 TB per app has it wrong.
Will I lose my files if I do not upgrade?
Not straight away. Files stay in place but you cannot edit them, cannot upload to Drive and cannot back up to Photos, and email can be affected. Google removes content only after two years over quota, with at least three months' notice.
Can I buy storage in Nepali rupees?
