Veo is a model, not an app you download

There is no "Veo app" and no Veo subscription. Veo is the generative video model, and you reach it through Google surfaces that use it. Two of those matter for a subscriber.

Google's own advice splits them the same way: use the Gemini app for quick one-off ideas and Flow for cinematic, multi-shot videos. Both need a Google AI plan for video generation, and both are restricted to users aged 18 and over.

Model names on this page follow Google's current pages. Google renames and rotates these models often, so check the live help pages listed at the bottom before quoting a version number to a client.

What one Veo clip actually is

Set your expectations at the clip level, not the film level. A generation gives you a short shot, measured in seconds, produced from a text prompt or from images you supply. Google prices a Veo 3.1 Quality generation as an eight-second video, and the Quality model produces sound along with the picture.

That is the unit you are working with. A one-minute video is not one generation, it is eight or ten of them, ordered on a timeline and cut together. Anyone promising you full AI-generated videos of any length from a single prompt is describing something Google does not currently offer.

The cost of a clip, in credits

Generation is paid for in Flow credits, not in rupees per clip. Every Google account gets 50 credits a day. Google AI Pro adds 1,000 credits a month on top, and neither pool rolls over: unused daily credits expire that day and unused monthly credits expire that month.

The clip counts are arithmetic on Google's published credit costs at the time of writing, and Google can change those costs. Ultra subscribers pay less per Veo generation and are the only tier with 4K upscaling. If a project needs more than the monthly allowance, Google sells top-up AI credits for extra usage.

The practical reading of that table: ten polished Quality shots a month is not much, so treat Lite and Omni Flash as your drafting models and spend the 100-credit generations only on shots that already work. The Flow guide sets out that draft-then-finalise process shot by shot.

Can you use Veo from Nepal?

Yes, through Flow and the Gemini app. Nepal is on Google's supported-country list for Flow, which currently covers around 195 countries and territories, and the Gemini app is available in Nepal too. Three conditions apply, and none of them is a workaround.

You must be 18 or older. Video generation is age-restricted on both surfaces.
You need a Google AI plan on the account. Free accounts get the 50 daily Flow credits, but video generation in the Gemini app requires a plan.
Prompts are best written in English. Flow's interface is offered in 38 languages and Nepali is not among them, so write the prompt in English even when the finished video is for a Nepali audience.

No VPN is involved in any of that. The only genuine barrier in Nepal has been payment, because Google bills its plans in US dollars and needs a card enabled for international online payments.

A monsoon street, a sunrise over a ridge, a stylised aerial. Shots you would need a trip and a drone to film, used as openers or transitions.

Short vertical clips

Eight seconds is close to the natural length of a Shorts or Reels hook, so single-idea vertical clips are where the model performs best.

Motion from a still

Feed a clean product photo through Frames to Video in Flow and you get a moving version for a listing or an advert, without a studio shoot.

Concepts you have to show, not describe

Pitching an advert idea to a client, or testing whether a scene is worth filming properly, is cheaper as a Lite generation than as a shoot.

What it still gets wrong

Length. Generations are seconds long. Longer pieces are assembled from many clips, and the joins are your problem, not the model's.
Consistency. Faces, clothing and lighting drift between generations. Flow's Characters and Ingredients features exist precisely because this is hard.
Nepali speech and on-screen text. Do not plan around it. Generate the picture, then add your own voice-over and captions in your editor.
Fine detail. Hands, crowds, reflections, readable signage and precise physical actions are where a generation falls apart on close inspection.
Budget. Ten Quality clips a month runs out quickly if you regenerate every prompt three times.
Disclosure. Tell your audience when footage is generated. Platforms increasingly expect that label, and viewers notice anyway.
