What Google actually promises
The plan page lists the benefit as "Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids, and more". Two conditions come with it: you must be 18 or older, and the features are "only available in select languages". Google does not publish a per-app list for personal accounts, and it does not publish the language list either. Google's data page for Gemini in Workspace apps covers Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet, Chat, Calendar and Vids, but the plan page only names Gmail, Docs and Vids; treat every other app as "and more" that may or may not be switched on for your account rather than a guarantee.
Before you rely on it
- Age: 18 or over on a personal Google account.
- Language: works in English. Nepali is not confirmed by Google for these in-app features; test before you depend on it.
- Privacy: Google states that Gemini in Workspace apps does not use your content to train its models and does not store prompts or outputs without permission.
- Business accounts: a company Workspace account gets its own Gemini features by edition, not through AI Pro. See Gemini in Google Workspace.
- Region notes: some Vids features are unavailable in Germany; nothing Nepal-specific is listed.
Gemini in Gmail
The Gmail side panel is the feature people use most, because email is where the time goes. Open a long thread from a supplier in Kathmandu that has run to twenty replies over three weeks, and ask for a summary of what was agreed and what is still open. Ask it to draft a reply in a particular tone, then edit the draft yourself before sending. It can also find things across your mailbox by description rather than by exact keyword, such as "the invoice from the printing press in June".
Google has also announced AI Inbox, a Gemini-driven view of what needs attention, rolling out to Plus and Pro subscribers. Rollouts reach accounts gradually, so do not buy the plan for that feature alone until you see it in your own Gmail.
Freelancer example: a designer in Pokhara who invoices foreign clients drafts the payment reminder in Gmail with Gemini, adjusts the wording, and attaches the PDF. The value is not that the email is written for you; it is that the blank-page delay disappears.
Gemini in Docs
In Docs, the side panel drafts, rewrites and summarises. Useful jobs: turn bullet notes from a meeting into a clean memo, shorten a two-page proposal to one, change the register of a letter from casual to formal, or generate a first outline for a report you then fill in with your own material. A teacher can paste the topics of a unit and ask for a worksheet skeleton, then check every question. See the teacher guide for that workflow.
Docs will also insert images generated on request, which is handy for a cover page or a simple illustration, with the same watermarking as the Gemini app's image tools.
Gemini in Sheets, where it is enabled
Sheets is where Gemini saves people who are not spreadsheet experts. Describe the table you need ("a monthly expense tracker with categories, amounts in NPR and a running total") and it builds the structure. Ask for a formula in plain language and it writes it. Ask what the numbers in a range show and it describes trends. Always check the formula it produces on a couple of rows; it is a drafting aid, not an accountant.

Slides, Drive and Vids: the "and more"
In Slides, Gemini generates images for a deck and can propose an outline of slides from a short description. In Drive, the side panel answers questions about a document without opening it, or summarises a folder of PDFs. Vids is Google's video app: give it a doc or an outline and it assembles a narrated, slide-style video, which suits training clips and internal explainers more than public marketing.

What it is not
- It is not the same as the Gemini app. The in-app side panel works on the document or thread in front of you; the app is where the long conversations, Deep Research and file analysis happen. The Gemini Pro guide covers that side.
- It is not guaranteed in Nepali. English works reliably; Nepali output quality varies and Google has not listed the supported languages for these features.
- It is not available on a Workspace business account through AI Pro. Google states that only personal accounts can subscribe to Google AI plans.
Is this alone worth the subscription?
Probably not on its own. If you write a lot of email and documents, the side panel is a genuine time-saver, but the plan's price is justified by the whole bundle: the Gemini app at the higher tier, Deep Research, Flow credits, Gemini Notebook limits and the storage. Think of Gemini in Gmail and Docs as the part you will use most often without noticing, rather than the reason to buy. Does Gemini in Gmail work on the Gmail phone app?
Gemini features appear in Gmail on the web and in the mobile apps as Google rolls them out. Availability can differ between platforms and accounts, so check your own app after the plan is active.
Can Gemini read all my email?
It works on the messages and files you ask about. Google states that Gemini in Workspace apps does not use your content to train its models and does not store your prompts or outputs without permission.
Will it write emails in Nepali?
You can try, and the Gemini app handles Nepali reasonably, but Google says the in-app features are available only in select languages and does not list them. Treat Nepali output as something to check carefully.
