Microfinance and Group Lending Software for Nepal
Manage centres, groups, small loans, field collections and overdue follow-up in one system that suits Nepali branch and field-staff practice.
Microfinance runs on volume and rhythm. Hundreds of small loans, repaid in small amounts, collected at centre meetings by field staff who return to the branch with a bag of slips. If those slips become a clean ledger by the next morning, the business is healthy. If they pile up, delinquency grows unseen.
WebsNP builds microfinance software around this rhythm. A branch is divided into centres and groups, each member carries one or more loans, and each meeting generates a collection sheet that field staff fill in and the office posts. Overdue amounts, portfolio at risk and field-staff performance appear without a spreadsheet marathon.
Microfinance institutions are regulated, and reporting formats set by Nepal Rastra Bank and other bodies change over time. Our software supports the record-keeping those bodies expect and we configure reports with you, but you should confirm the current required formats with the regulator. If your business is a membership co-operative rather than an MFI, see our sahakari software.
Who Microfinance Software is for
Small microfinance institutions
Organisations with several branches that lend to women groups and need consistent loan, savings and recovery records across all of them.
NGO-run credit programmes
Development projects that run a revolving loan fund for a community and must show donors where each rupee went and came back.
Co-operatives with group lending
Sahakaris that lend through centres and groups in addition to individual loans and want both under one roof.
Branch managers and field officers
Staff who spend the day visiting centres and want to see their own portfolio, due list and collection target without waiting for head office.
Finance and compliance teams
Teams that prepare periodic returns and board reports and are tired of rebuilding the same figures from branch files each month.
Problems it solves
| The problem today | How the software fixes it |
|---|---|
| Field slips reach the office late and are typed twice | Collection sheets are generated per centre meeting; staff enter or upload what was collected once, and member, group and branch totals update together. |
| Nobody can say how much of the portfolio is at risk | Overdue and portfolio-at-risk reports update after every posting, by branch, centre, group and field officer. |
| Group guarantee and attendance are not recorded | Each group and centre keeps its leader, members, meeting attendance and joint-liability notes with the loan files. |
| Savings, insurance and loan instalments are tangled together | A single receipt is split automatically into compulsory savings, insurance, interest and principal in the order your policy sets. |
| Head office waits weeks for branch reports | Branch data is consolidated in one system, so head office sees live figures instead of waiting for files by email. |
| Fraud and cash shortage are found too late | Daily cash reconciliation per field officer, separate roles for entry and approval and an audit log make gaps visible quickly. |

Regulated environment
Microfinance in Nepal operates under regulator oversight. The software supports the record-keeping expected, and reports are configured with you. Always confirm current return formats with Nepal Rastra Bank or your supervising body.
Bikram Sambat calendar
Meeting dates, instalments and reports use BS dates, with the fiscal year opening in Shrawan.
Field realities in hills and Terai
Collection sheets work on paper first, with options for mobile entry and later synchronisation in places where the signal is weak.
Nepali-language documents
Passbooks, receipts and notices can be printed in Nepali for clients, with English for head office reports.
Festival and season patterns
Dashain, Tihar and the farming season change repayment behaviour. Reports let you compare periods so you can plan around them.

Can the software handle group loans and centre meetings?
Yes. Branches are divided into centres and groups, each with meeting day, leader and members. A collection sheet is produced for every meeting, and collected amounts are posted back to each member loan and savings account in one step.
Do you support weekly, fortnightly and monthly instalments?
Yes. Each loan product can have its own frequency, term, interest method and fees. Schedules are generated automatically with BS dates and adjust when a payment is early, late or partial according to your policy.
Can field staff collect with a mobile phone?
A mobile data entry option can be built for field officers, including saving entries when the signal is poor and syncing later. Many institutions start with printed sheets and move to mobile once the office process is stable.
Will the reports satisfy Nepal Rastra Bank?
The system is designed to support the record-keeping a regulated lender needs. Formats and thresholds change, so please confirm the current requirements with the regulator, and we will configure the reports to match your instructions.
How do you track portfolio at risk?
Overdue days are calculated for every loan from the schedule and payments. Reports group loans by age of arrears and show amounts outstanding by branch, centre, group and officer so managers can act early.
Can we run several branches on one system?
Yes. Each branch has its own users and cash book while head office sees consolidated reports. Rights can restrict a branch user to their own data.
Can you migrate our current loan data?
In most cases yes. We take client lists, loan balances and schedules from Excel, check them with you against your last ledger and import them, then run a short parallel period before the old books are closed.
What does it cost?
Price depends on the number of branches, users, modules such as mobile collection or SMS, and the hosting you prefer. After a demo and a short discussion we send a clear written quote.
