Bachat Samuha Software for Savings Groups in Nepal
Keep monthly deposits, member loans, interest, fines and meeting minutes in one simple record that the whole group can see and trust.
A bachat samuha is built on a simple idea: members put in a little every month, lend to each other and share the gains. The idea only survives if everyone trusts the record. When the treasurer keeps a notebook at home, doubts begin: is my deposit entered, how much interest did I earn, why was her loan bigger than mine?
WebsNP builds savings group software that keeps the whole cycle in one place: members, monthly deposits, loans, interest, fines, meeting minutes and the year-end share-out. It is deliberately simple, with large buttons, Nepali labels and printable sheets, so a volunteer treasurer can use it without a computer background.
Savings groups may be informal or registered with a local office or co-operative body, and rules vary. The software supports your group record-keeping; for registration and reporting duties, confirm the current requirements with your ward, municipality or relevant co-operative office. If your group has grown into a full sahakari, see our co-operative software.
Who Savings Group (Bachat Samuha) Software is for
Women savings groups
Groups of ten to fifty women meeting monthly, putting in a fixed deposit and lending to members for household and small business needs.
Tole and neighbourhood groups
Community groups where neighbours save together and the notebook has become too long and too hard to check.
Community and ward-level self-help groups
Groups started by NGOs, ward offices or local programmes that must show their records to a supporting organisation.
Youth, farmer and business groups
Groups that save for a common purpose such as buying seeds, equipment or stock and then lend from the pooled fund.
Group treasurers and secretaries
The volunteers who carry the whole record on their shoulders and want to hand over cleanly at the end of their term.
Problems it solves
| The problem today | How the software fixes it |
|---|---|
| Members doubt whether their deposits are recorded | Every deposit is entered with a date and printed on a member sheet, so each person can check her own balance at the meeting. |
| Interest on member loans is calculated by guesswork | Loans carry a stored rate and period, and interest is calculated the same way for every borrower and shown on the repayment sheet. |
| Year-end share-out takes days and ends in arguments | Interest income and fines are shared according to the rule your group has chosen, and each member gets a printed statement. |
| The treasurer changes and the record is lost | Records are held in one system with a backup, so the next treasurer opens the same file without starting over. |
| Fines and absences are remembered differently by everyone | Attendance, fines and waivers are recorded each meeting with the decision noted in the minutes. |
| Supporting organisations ask for reports nobody can prepare | Member list, savings total, loans outstanding and meeting summary are printed in a few clicks for any BS date range. |

Simple enough for volunteers
The treasurer may be a homemaker or a farmer with limited computer use. We keep the screens few and the language plain.
Works with load-shedding
It runs on a modest laptop and can work offline. Printed sheets keep the meeting going when the power is out.
Registration and reporting
Some groups register with a ward, municipality or co-operative office and rules vary. Confirm current requirements locally; the software keeps the records you will need.
WhatsApp for meeting reminders
Reminders for the next meeting, due loan payments and the share-out day can be sent by group WhatsApp or SMS.
How we get you started
- Learn your group rules We note your deposit amount, loan limits, interest rate, fines and share-out method, since each group sets its own rules.
- Enter members and balances We set up members, current savings and open loans from your notebook and check them with the treasurer.
- Practise on one meeting The treasurer enters a past meeting as practice, and we compare the result with the notebook.
- Go live From the next meeting, entries are made in the software, printed for members and backed up.
- Support and handover We help at year-end share-out and when a new treasurer takes over, by WhatsApp or phone.

Is this too complicated for a village women group?
No. The screens are few: members, deposits, loans and the meeting. A treasurer who can keep a notebook can learn it in a short session. We can also train in Nepali at your meeting place and leave a one-page guide.
Can it calculate the year-end share-out?
Yes. You choose the rule your group follows, for example sharing interest and fines in proportion to savings. The software shows the working for every member, so there are fewer arguments at the share-out meeting.
Do we need internet?
Not for daily use. A local installation works offline and only needs a computer or laptop. Internet is helpful for backups, group WhatsApp reminders and for supervising organisations that want to view reports.
Can members see their own balance?
Yes. A printed statement can be given at every meeting, and WhatsApp or SMS balance messages can be set up if you want them. A member portal can also be added as a custom feature.
Can an NGO use it for many groups?
Yes. Each group has its own record, and the supporting organisation sees combined reports for all groups, with total savings, loans outstanding and overdue amounts, as long as the groups agree to share that information.
Does it replace our registration or minutes?
No. It stores and prints minutes, but your registration and legal duties are separate. Please confirm the current requirements with your ward, municipality or co-operative office; we configure the reports for what they ask.
What happens if our treasurer changes?
Because the record is held in one system with a backup, the new treasurer receives the file and the printed history. We can train her and check that the opening balances match the last meeting before she starts.
What does it cost?
Cost depends on how many groups, members and extras such as SMS or a federation view are needed. A small single-group set-up is quoted differently from a project covering many groups. We send a written quote after a demo.
