Money Exchange Software for Currency Counters in Nepal
Run a foreign currency counter with daily rates, buy and sell receipts, stock by currency, customer records and an end-of-day cash check that balances.
A currency counter makes its living on small margins and fast transactions. A customer hands over dollars, the clerk checks the rate, counts the notes, issues a receipt and moves on to the next person. A mistake in the rate, a miscounted bundle or an unrecorded sale costs far more than the margin on a single deal.
WebsNP builds money exchange software that keeps the daily rate board, every buy and sell entry, the stock of each currency and the rupee cash drawer in one system. At closing time, the expected balance of each currency is on screen, so shortages and surpluses show up the same day instead of at month end.
Currency exchange is a regulated activity in Nepal, and licensing and reporting duties are set by the regulator and the law. The software supports your record-keeping, including customer details and transaction logs, but you should confirm current requirements with Nepal Rastra Bank or your adviser. If your shop also sells goods, our POS billing software may help with the retail side.

Problems it solves
| The problem today | How the software fixes it |
|---|---|
| Clerks use an old rate when the board has changed | One rate table, set by the manager, is used by every counter entry, with a log of each rate change and who made it. |
| Closing cash does not match the register | The system shows the expected closing stock for each currency and for rupees, so a difference is noticed before the counter closes. |
| Margin is unclear until the end of the month | Each sale compares the sell rate with the average buy cost, so daily and monthly margin by currency is always visible. |
| Customer details are scribbled on slips and lost | Identity details, nationality, passport or document number and purpose are captured with the transaction and searchable later. |
| Counterfeit or damaged notes cause losses nobody tracks | Rejected and damaged notes can be recorded with the staff member and the day, so patterns become visible. |
| Owner cannot check the counter when away | Reports can be viewed remotely on a phone or computer if you choose an online setup. |

Can the software handle many currencies?
Yes. You choose which currencies and denominations to trade, and each has its own buy and sell rate, stock and average cost. New currencies can be added by a supervisor as your customers ask for them.
How does it prevent using the wrong rate?
Rates are set in one place by an authorised person and the counter screen picks them up automatically. Clerks cannot type a different rate unless you permit it, and every rate change is logged with the time and user.
Can it show my profit or margin?
Yes. It tracks the weighted average buying cost per currency and compares each sale with it. You can see margin by day, currency or clerk. Expenses can be added to see net result if you wish.
Does it store customer identity details?
It can store name, nationality, document type and number, contact and purpose with each transaction. What you must collect and report depends on the rules that apply to your licence, so please confirm them with the regulator.
What about end-of-day closing?
At closing, staff enter the actual count by denomination. The system compares it with the expected balance and records any shortage or surplus with the user and shift, so differences are visible and not forgotten.
Can I run more than one counter?
Yes. Each counter has its own cash, stock and users while the owner sees combined reports. Transfers between counters or to the bank are recorded so stock stays correct everywhere.
Will it work if the internet goes down?
A local installation does not need the internet for counter work. If you choose an online setup, we discuss a fallback and backup arrangement so that your clerks can keep serving customers.
How much does it cost?
It depends on counters, users, hosting and any customisation. We give a clear written quote after a demo and a conversation about how your counter works.
