Google Workspace in Nepal: frequently asked questions

Yes. G Suite was renamed Google Workspace in October 2020, and before that it was Google Apps for Work (renamed G Suite in September 2016). The product you can buy today is Google Workspace; the old names describe the same service. See G Suite in Nepal.

No new sign-ups. Google moved business accounts on the legacy free edition to paid Workspace in 2022, and the free edition now exists only for personal, non-commercial use. From May 2025 those accounts moved to pooled storage.

A free Gmail account belongs to the person who created it and ends in gmail.com. Workspace gives each user an address on your own domain, owned and administered by the organisation, with pooled storage, meetings up to 24 hours, security controls, no ads and Gemini features by edition. Business Starter, Business Standard and Business Plus, each for up to 300 users, plus Enterprise editions with no user cap and unpublished pricing. Schools have Education editions and there is a free Nonprofits edition in supported countries. Compare on the price page.

Through WebsNP, per user per month billed yearly in NPR: Business Starter $2.78, Business Standard $3.97, Business Plus $19.53. Google's own list prices are $7, $14 and $22 per user per month on an annual plan ($8.40, $16.80 and $26.40 on the month-to-month Flexible plan), billed in US dollars.

Not to Google: NPR is not a supported Google billing currency, and Google bills Nepal customers in USD or EUR by card. WebsNP bills in NPR, payable by Fonepay QR from a mobile banking app or by bank transfer, with an invoice for every payment.

The checkout shows the final amount you pay for the users and term you select. If you need a specific invoice format for your accounts, tell us when ordering.

Google's Flexible plan bills monthly. WebsNP bills Business Starter and Standard yearly per user; Business Plus can be ordered monthly or yearly.

Google offers a 14-day trial for up to 10 users when you sign up directly. If you order through WebsNP and want to try the service first, ask us before ordering.

No. Google Workspace subscriptions supplied by WebsNP are non-refundable under our refund policy. Google's annual plan also holds you to the full commitment if cancelled early.

Yes. Workspace runs on a domain you own; you verify it with a TXT record and point its MX record to Google. If you do not have a domain, a .com can be registered or a .com.np obtained free through Mercantile's register.com.np; see domain registration.

Yes, as a paid user account, as a free alias on an existing user, or as a group that delivers to several people. For a shared address that several staff answer, a group is usually the right choice. The domain email guide walks through it.

Up to 2,000 messages a day per paid user (500 during a trial), to a maximum of 2,000 recipients per message of which 500 can be external. Outgoing attachments are limited to 25 MB.

Yes. Gmail in Workspace works with the Gmail apps and with Outlook, Apple Mail and other clients through IMAP.

A single record: host @, priority 1, value smtp.google.com. Older accounts may still use the aspmx.l.google.com records, which continue to work. Changes can take up to 72 hours to propagate. The full record set is in the setup guide.

Storage is pooled across the organisation: 30 GB times the number of users on Starter, 2 TB per user on Standard, 5 TB per user on Plus. One person can use more than their share as long as the pool has room. See Google Drive for business.

Business Starter covers an office that mostly needs email, Calendar and Drive. Choose Standard when you want Meet recording, Gemini in Docs, Sheets and Slides, or more storage. Choose Plus when you need Vault retention or advanced device control. Compare in Workspace for small business.

From one user up to 300 on any Business edition. Beyond 300 you need an Enterprise edition.

Yes. Google allows switching between Business editions; on annual plans, reducing licences happens at renewal. Contact WebsNP to change edition or add users during a term.

An admin can transfer their Drive files and Calendar to another user, then delete the account. Google keeps the deleted user's data for 20 days for restoration, after which it is unrecoverable.

Domain verification is a TXT record that is active in about 10 minutes and confirmed usually within the hour. MX changes can take up to 72 hours to propagate everywhere. DKIM keys are generated after Gmail has been active for 24 to 72 hours. Users and groups take minutes once the domain is verified.

Yes. Google's data import tool brings mail, contacts and calendars from IMAP hosts such as cPanel webmail and Zoho, from Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online, and from another Google account. WebsNP does this as part of setup. Google makes no zero-downtime promise, so we keep the old mailboxes live during the switch and run a second import afterwards. See the migration guide.

Yes. Exchange Online is a supported source in Google's data import tool for mail, and OneDrive and SharePoint for files.

Setup requires admin access while we configure the domain, users and records. The accounts live in your own Google Admin console; you hold the owner account and can remove any other admin.

Yes, since January 2025, at no extra charge, with scope by edition. Business Starter includes Gemini in Gmail and the Gemini app at standard access. Standard and Plus add Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides and Meet notes, and the Gemini app at Pro access where chats are not used to train Google's models. See Gemini in Workspace.

No Business edition includes Flow, Veo or Whisk. Google offers them through a paid add-on. There is no "AI credits" system in Workspace.

No. Google states that only personal Google accounts can subscribe to Google AI plans. If you want Flow and 5 TB on a personal Gmail, that is Google AI Pro; the products are compared in AI Pro vs Workspace.

Yes. NotebookLM, now called Gemini Notebook, is included in all Workspace plans, with higher limits on qualifying editions.

Government-recognised, accredited schools and degree-awarding colleges with an active website can apply to Google for Education Fundamentals, which is free, with 2,500 licences and 100 TB of pooled storage. Tutoring centres, coaching institutes and consultancies do not qualify and use Business editions. See Workspace for schools.

Not at present. Nepal is not on Google's supported-country list for Google for Nonprofits. Nepal-registered NGOs use Business editions; INGO offices usually receive accounts from their parent organisation. See Workspace for NGOs.
